EDECON acquired a good experience in surveying work, especially in marine surveying through our expert who has over 17 years of experience in the field of coastal engineering with emphasis on field measurements and field supervision on the construction of coastal works. He gained a good experience in field measurements in coastal areas from the training courses he attended and from the numerous field surveys he undertook at the Shore Protection Authority, SPA. During his work at SPA he reviewed and evaluated the studies for proposed coastal works submitted by different institutes and companies specialised in coastal engineering. This provided him with a good background on the physical properties for many areas along the Mediterranean Sea.
He has worked in Monitoring of Survey Capability program and using Litpack software in studying west Rosetta promontory area in DANIDA (Danish International Development Assistance) SPA 2 project. The program included understanding of survey function and facilities, operation of survey equipment (GPS Trimble 5700, echo sounder Navisound 215, Velocity Prob.,….) and wave recording equipment (Wave Rider) including dedicated software packages (Hypack), calibration, maintenance and the ability to carry out data processing. The training in using Litpack software included estimating longshore sediment transport rates and shoreline evaluation in west Rosetta promontory area. The duration of work was 16 weeks.
